FAQs

No, we are an online only coffee shop, which allows us to focus on sourcing high quality coffee and delivering freshly roasted coffee right to your door.

We currently offer Colombian, whole bean specialty coffee, in 12oz bags . Each bag of coffee can make between 17 and 34  cups of coffee, depending on the size of your brew.

Specialty coffee refers to coffee that meets high quality standards from careful evaluation of cultivation, processing and roasting. Resulting in a cup of coffee with distinct characteristics on its flavor, aroma or mouthfeel and providing people with its origin, producers and process methods.

Colombia offers some of the best tasting coffee in the world. We at La Puerta Coffee want to share our love for Colombia and its amazing coffee with everyone.

Whole beans stay fresh much longer than pre-ground coffee. Grinding immediately before brewing preserves the coffee’s aroma, oils and flavors, giving you the best possible cup.

Our coffee is roasted in small batches to ensure freshness. Each bag includes a roast date so you know exactly when your coffee was roasted.

We recommend that you keep the coffee beans in their original seal bag or an airtight container, stored in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture. If you are not going to consume your beans within 2 months, coffee beans can be stored in the freezer in an airtight container for up to one year.

For best cup quality, enjoy your coffee within 8 weeks from receiving your coffee.

Traditional coffees will exhibit flavors typically associated with coffee such as chocolate, caramel, or nuts and they are processed with traditional methods like washed coffees. Experimental coffee will have more exotic flavors such as fruits, floral notes, and honey. Experimental processing could be anaerobic honey or fermentation methods.

Roast level indicates how long the coffee beans were in the roaster. A light roast coffee spends under 10 minutes in the roaster and a medium-dark roast coffee spends around 12 to 15 minutes in the roaster.

A single origin coffee comes from one farm and one type of coffee plant (Pink Bourbon, Caturra, Castillo, to name a few) highlighting specific flavor profiles. A blend mixes different types of coffee beans from different farms and regions highlighting a consistent flavor profile.

At this time, we only sell whole bean coffee. This ensures every customer enjoys the freshest possible coffee and can grind it according to their preferred brewing method.

Each product page includes coffee type, tasting notes, roast level, processing method, origin and recommended brewing methods to help you choose the coffee you enjoy the most.

We recommend investing in a burr grinder. Grinding right before brewing makes one of the biggest improvements you can make to take your coffee experience to the next level.
